Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission Recommends Four Potential Park Names

The Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission held their scheduled meeting on Monday evening and reviewed all the suggested names for the new downtown amphitheater park given by the community over the past month. After much consideration, the Commission narrowed down the lengthy list of names to submit to the City Council for final deliberations. Here are the proposed names in alphabetical order:

1. Cathedral Canyon Amphitheater Park
2. Cathedral City Amphitheater Park
3. Ophelia Bringas Amphitheater Park
4. Sounds of the Canyon Amphitheater Park

The City Council will discuss the naming of the new amphitheater park during their May 9, 2018 council meeting. The public will have an opportunity to provide additional input during this meeting.

The new 2.5 acre amphitheater park will be located at the corner of Cathedral Canyon Drive and Avenida Lalo Guerrero. Besides an amphitheater, the park will also offer walking trails, children’s play area, restrooms, and ample lawn space to hold special events.
