Cathedral City Public Arts Commission Sponsors the “Pickford Presents” Film Series
Series includes “A Dog’s Purpose” and “La La Land” during the month of February
The Cathedral City Public Arts Commission (CCPAC) voted unanimously today to sponsor “Pickford Presents,” a film series that features new theatrical releases along with special appearances by the films’ director(s), producer(s), writer(s), composer(s), and/or actor(s) for a LIVE Question and Answer session following the movie.
Hosted by Manny the Movie Guy, the first film of the series, “A Dog’s Purpose,” is a fantasy drama movie about how a dog determines its “own meaning of existence through the lives of the humans it teaches to laugh and love.” The event will take place on Saturday, February 4, 2017 at 4:05 p.m. Writer W. Bruce Cameron and his fellow screenwriter and wife, Cathryn Michon, along with their dog will be in appearance and answer audience questions following the movie.
On Saturday, February 18th at 4:05 p.m., KESQ’s Bianca Rae will host the second film of the “Pickford Presents” with the movie, “La La Land,” along with Oscar nominated composer Justin Hurwitz. “La La Land” is a romantic musical comedy that has been nominated for fourteen Academy Awards, tying the records of “Titantic” and “All About Eve.” “La La Land” recently won the most Golden Globe Awards in the ceremony’s history with seven Globes in early January.
“The Public Arts Commission is proud to sponsor such an amazing film series that brings movie professionals to Cathedral City for a full-access discussion about motion picture arts,” stated Alan Carvalho, Chair of the CCPAC. “It will also help showcase the newly renovated Mary Pickford Theatre with its oversized captain chairs, café, and wine bar that received much fanfare by the attendees of the Palm Springs International Film Festival.”
