Celebrate Earth Day in Cathedral City with Two Events at Ocotillo Park

Event #1: “Walking for Water – 6K”

Close access to clean water helps reduce poverty; it’s as simple as that. Healthy adults and children are better able to work and can spend more time in school, instead of getting water from far away. You can help!

“Walking for Water” is a fundraising and awareness event where kids and adults walk 6 kilometers, carrying 6 liters of water in a backpack. That’s just under 4 miles, and is the average distance the mostly women and girls in developing countries must walk every day.

By participating in the “Walking for Water” campaign, you can learn about local and global water issues and take action to improve the lives of other kids! The event is sponsored by the City of Cathedral City, Cathedral City Evening Rotary, Global Youth Service Day 2017, S.C.R.A.P. Gallery, Sunline Transit Agency, and Walking for Water.

Registration is at 5 P.M. Walk for Water starts at 5:30 P.M.

BRING YOUR FRIENDS! THE FIRST 250 PARTICIPANTS RECEIVE A FREE BACKPACK AND WATER BOTTLE!

Kids are free. Adults are $5.

Event #2: “Movies in the Park” featuring the Disney Pixar film, “WALL-E.”

Gather the family, blankets and/or chairs for “Movies in the Park” located this season at the statewide awarding winning park, Ocotillo Park, 33300 Moreno Road in Cathedral City. The free event occurs every month at 7:00 pm, except for the month of May, which begins at 8:30 pm due to daylight savings time.

You are welcome to bring snacks or non-alcoholic drinks, but you can also purchase them from the movie organizers at the park’s concession stand. Great Family FUN!

Film Synopsis:
WALL-E, short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-class, is the last robot left on Earth. He spends his days tidying up the planet, one piece of garbage at a time. But during 700 years, WALL-E has developed a personality, and he’s more than a little lonely. Then he spots EVE (Elissa Knight), a sleek and shapely probe sent back to Earth on a scanning mission. Smitten WALL-E embarks on his greatest adventure yet when he follows EVE across the galaxy.
