Cone Zone Alert – WORK ON THE DATE PALM BRIDGE WIDENING PROJECT WILL CAUSE TRAFFIC DELAYS THROUGH MONDAY

Riverside Construction Company has just informed the City that beginning on Tuesday, March 6, 2018 and thru Monday, March 12, 2018 (excluding the weekend), motorists can expect intermittent traffic delays during daytime hours at the Date Palm Drive Bridge due to bridge girder placement, now on the west side of the bridge. For the safety of the traveling public and crews, during girder lifts utilizing a crane, traffic will be temporarily stopped in both directions. In addition, motorist going south bound on Date Palm Drive will not be able to turn left into the Date Palm Country Club during the day time hours.

Background:
The City contracted with Riverside Construction Company to complete the $19 million Date Palm Bridge Widening and Seismic Improvement Project that will add one additional lane (three total), a bicycle lane, and sidewalks for both directions of traffic. It will also provide road improvements from Gerald Ford Drive to Perez Road. Funding for the project includes $16.35 million from the federal government, $1.64 million from CVAG, and $548,000 from Cathedral City. Construction is expected to be completed by fall 2018.
