Improvements to the East Palm Canyon Median Nearly Completed

With the installment of the Betty Gold art sculpture today, improvements to the East Palm Canyon median near Date Palm Drive are nearly completed.  Over the past four weeks, crews have been installing desert landscape to improve the aesthetics of East Palm Canyon Drive as you enter Cathedral City from Rancho Mirage.  This improvement project was advocated by Councilmember Shelley Kaplan and fully supported by the entire City Council.

The median improvement project utilizes 100% sustainable hardscape materials that requires minimal maintenance.  The design incorporates natural stones, boulders, and the beautiful Betty Gold art sculpture that was donated to the City as the focal piece.  No water and only earth-friendly solar power lighting will be used to operate the median.

The next time you are in the area, take a look at how nice this new entryway median and signs set the tone for the downtown.  Besides this construction project and the Date Palm Bridge construction project soon to be completed in October, there will also be future construction on the new downtown fire station, casino, restaurants, hotel, and outdoor amphitheater over the next few years.
