International Walk to School Day in Cathedral City

Hundreds of students and parents were escorted to school today by Mayor Pro Tem Greg Pettis, Councilmember John Aguilar, Councilmember Mark Carnevale as well as the Cathedral City Police and Fire Departments.

Held in October every year since 1999, millions of children from countries around the world participate in Safe Kids Walk This Way events for International Walk to School Day. The City of Cathedral City participates in this annual event to raise awareness about walking safety and to promote healthy behavior.

According to the organizers, more than 8.2 million students around the globe in 10,000 schools participate in the International Walk to School Day making it one of the largest and most widespread activities in the world.
