The public is encouraged to join County Supervisor John Benoit, the City Council of Cathedral City, and Riverside County Flood Control and Water Conservation District for the Eagle Canyon Dam Ribbon Cutting on Thursday, March 10 at 9:00 am. After the ribbon cutting, the public can take a special tour of the recently completed $10.6 million dam and learn about the 3,900 feet long Line 43/43A underground storm drain that links the dam to the North Cathedral Canyon Channel.

The dam is designed to hold back flash flood waters during heavy rainfall and protect property in the nearby areas located downstream. Pictured in January, the dam held back nearly 5 acre-feet of storm water from a rainstorm, but it has the capacity to hold back up to 185 acre-feet.

Parking is available by driving to the intersection of Canyon Plaza Drive and Via Allegro (just south of the new Angel View Resale Shop) and then follow directional signs. A shuttle will be available to transport guests to the dam.
