Nine Cities Challenge Came to Cathedral City on Saturday

Mayor Stan Henry, Mayor Pro Tem Greg Pettis, and Councilmember Shelley Kaplan along with other staff and community members participated in the Nine Cities Workplace Wellness Challenge this past Saturday morning at Dennis Keat Soccer Park. The challenge encourages individuals to reach their personal health goals and earn points for the team.

Team Cathedral City sported their new looks, walked several miles, and raised awareness about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

You may have heard about one aspect of the Challenge—the Nine Weekly Saturday Walks scheduled between Aug 20 and Oct 15, in preparation for the Oct 22 Tram Road Challenge and Desert AIDS Walk.

The Weekly Walk is free to enter. Cathedral City has formed a team that anyone in the community can join. You can participate by signing up to track your walks, steps and other physical activity, nutrition, and EARN POINTS for the team- every day! Sync with your fitness device (Fitbit, Garman, Apple Watch, etc.) or track online. Here’s what to do… Log on to wellable.co/UWChallenge. (Note: Type .co, not .com) Read about it, sign up with your team (choose “City of Cathedral City” from the drop-down) and create an account. You will be prompted to sync with your fitness device, if you choose. It’s easy to sign up.
