North Pole Village at Snow Fest – A Hit with Families

Hundreds of families came out to the “North Pole Village at Snow Fest,” presented by ACE Hardware (Cathedral City), in Downtown Cathedral City on Saturday, December 8, 2018 to celebrate the “most wonderful time of the year!”  Emceed by Weathercaster Bryan Gallo of KMIR, the annual event included a lit Hollywood-style movie set themed as Main Street at Santa’s North Pole.  Snow-Fest offered holiday music and carolers, Santa Claus, holiday tree lighting ceremony, a 20,000 Candy Cane Drop for Kids, bike giveaways for kids, free movie at the Mary Pickford Theatre, free ice skating passes to Desert Ice Castle, and a silent auction featuring “Charlie Brown Christmas Trees” decorated by local celebrities benefitting the Cathedral City Boys and Girls Club.  Guests also enjoyed an outdoor market featuring holiday arts & crafts, food, treats, and beverages including hot chocolate and champurrado.  The kids loved playing in the “snow” or the illusion of snow with our play area full of snow bubbles.

The “North Pole Village” will remain on display through January 2, 2019 in front of City Hall in Downtown Cathedral City.  In the daytime, you can marvel at the wonderful store front murals painted by artists from CVRep’s stage crews, and at night, the Village lights up with holiday music playing.  It’s the best place to take the family holiday photo or selfie and put you in the holiday mood.

Please thank our sponsors for without them, Snow Fest would not be possible.  They include ACE Hardware in Cathedral City, McDonald’s, Volkswagen, La Michoacana Ice Cream Parlor, Windemere Homes & Estates (Team Art, Terry, & Kara), Frazier Pest Control, Cathedral City Gay Business Association, Desert Family Medical Center, Mother Earth’s Farmacy, The Runway (Dining, Drinks, & Drag), Mayor Greg Pettis, former Councilmember Shelley Kaplan, Cathedral City Public Arts Commission, HotN Cannabis Shop, Mary Pickford Theatre, Desert Ice Castle, Quick Quack Car Wash, C&M Growers, and Planet Fitness.
