S.C.R.A.P. Gallery’s Latest Art Project for “International Dot Day”

Tuesday, September 15th is “International Dot Day” that celebrates the creativity, courage and collaboration of children and art.  The day is based on the children’s book, “The Dot,” by Peter H. Reynolds.  The synopsis stems from a student who doubts her artistic abilities.  A caring teacher tells her to “make her mark” on a piece of paper and then sign it.  The student realizes that a simple “dot” is “art” that others want to see.  She goes on to teach others that all students have an artistic gift.

S.C.R.A.P. Gallery wants you to “make your mark” by doing three things:

  1. Read “The Dot” by Peter H. Reynolds
  2. Start your own dot and then email it to info@scrapgallery.org
  3. If you lack your own art supplies, then you can pick-up a free Dot Art Kit at S.C.R.A.P., 68743 Perez Road, Suite D-16 on Monday, September 14 between the hours of 8 am and 11 am (curbside).

Once finished, S.C.R.A.P. Gallery will connect all the Dots for all the world to see.  For more information, contact Executive Director Karen Riley at info@scrapgallery.org.
