20 Votes Separate the Two Candidates in the Special District 1 Election

Voters had up until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night to turn in their ballots or have their ballots postmarked by Tuesday, August 27, 2019 to be counted in the Special Election for District 1.  Of the ballots counted and released shortly after 8:00 pm by the Riverside County Registrar of Voters Office, Rita Lamb led by 20 votes (583 votes) over Shelley Kaplan (563 votes).

These totals do not include 48 ballots received at City Hall on Tuesday or ballots mailed on Tuesday or even possibly on Monday.

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters has stated that they will release new totals on Thursday, August 29, 2019 around 5:00 pm.  They also project to certify the election results on or about September 12, 2019.
