‘Additional Building Department Services’
Although many are familiar with the typical services that the Building Department offers such as building permits, inspections and plan reviews, there are other services that may be less familiar but can be very useful in completing your project.
Same Day Inspections
During the summer months, the Building Department provides multiple same day inspections in conjunction with permits for main service panel change-outs and other electrical service repairs to ensure residents are without power for the minimum amount of time necessary to complete the work. The inspection must be coordinated in advance with Southern California Edison and the Building Department.
After Hours Inspections
With advanced planning, inspections can be scheduled for after hours. The request must be made in writing to the Chief Building Official, a minimum of 6 days in advance, that includes the permit number, day(s) and time(s) the inspection is requested for, and the type of inspection(s) being requested. There is an additional charge for this service.
After Hours Construction
Municipal Code Chapter 11.96 limits the hours for construction to the following:
