Cathedral City Pride – Common Code Violations

Keeping Cathedral City beautiful is a responsibility for all of us.  The advantages of a city looking its best helps attract new businesses, increases property values, reduces crime and produces civic pride.  Please take the time to evaluate your property and work to correct any violations your property may have.  Below is a list of the most common residential code violations:

  1.  Landscaping – All landscape must be maintained in healthy condition by proper irrigation, trimming, edging and removing weeds.  Dead plants must be removed and should be replaced.

  2. Outside Storage – Items including, but not limited to, furniture, household items, yard equipment, tools, building materials, vehicle parts, tires, appliances, cleaning equipment, landscaping equipment or boxes must be kept out of public view

  3. Parking – Vehicles are required to be parked on the existing driveway or approved surface.  Parking on grass, dirt, vacant lots or decorative landscape is not allowed.  Vehicles parked on the street must not intrude onto the sidewalk or block fire hydrants or driveways.

  4. Inoperative Vehicles – Vehicles that are unlicensed, wrecked, abandoned or in disrepair may not be stored in public view.

  5. Garbage Containers – Garbage containers must be stored behind your fence out of public view within 12 hours after curb service.  They should not be seen from the street or neighboring properties.

  6. Bulky Items – Keep your sidewalks free of discarded household items such as furniture, appliances, TVs and other items.  You must first call Burrtec at 760-340-2113 to schedule a bulky item pickup.  Simply place the items on the curb by 6:00 a.m. on the day scheduled with Burrtec.  Report illegal dumping to 760-770-0369.

Together, we can keep our community looking good and protect property values by following the property maintenance codes.  Thank you for doing your part.
