Fourth of July Holiday Safety
The Cathedral City Fire Department reminds you to responsibly celebrate the Fourth of July.
The Fourth of July is associated with fireworks, barbecues, picnics, baseball games and family get-togethers.
In Cathedral City, only “Safe and Sane Fireworks” are permitted.
Illegal Fireworks are NOT ALLOWED in Cathedral City, including (but not limited to); firecrackers, M-80’s, roman candles, sky rockets, bottle rockets, aerial bombs, torpedoes, day go bombs, chasers, and sparklers larger than ten inches in length or one-quarter inch in diameter.
“Safe and Sane Fireworks” do not fly into the air or explode.
“Safe and Sane Fireworks” can only be discharged in Cathedral City from noon on June 28th until midnight on July 4th.
It is unlawful to ignite, explode, project, fire or use any fireworks upon or over or onto the property of another or use any fireworks within ten (10) feet of any residence or dwelling.
When using “Safe and Sane Fireworks” have a garden hose, a bucket filled with water or a fire extinguisher available, to prevent the spread of sparks.
Use “Safe and Sane Fireworks” in a responsible manner. Clean-up the area after usage and properly dispose of any smoldering embers.
The Fourth of July celebration should be a family oriented activity, where safety is practiced.
