The 2nd Annual Taste of Jalisco, presented by Southern California Edison, celebrates the sister city relationship between Cathedral City and Tequila, Jalisco (Mexico) through music, fashion, spirits, culture and cuisine. It is a time to recognize the strength in our diversity, appreciate our similarities, and reaffirm our diplomatic commitment to improve the lives of both cities’ residents. The festival takes place on Saturday, February 11, 2017 from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. in Downtown Cathedral City’s Festival Lawn located at 68600 East Palm Canyon Drive (HWY 111).
The Taste of Jalisco Parade, presented by Volkswagen of Palm Springs, kicks-off the festival at 10:00 a.m. as it meanders through our downtown streets and features local dance groups, circus acrobats, fire and police vehicles, and the wonderful dancing horses by Caballos Bailadores de la Alta Escuela del Rancho Arroyo, plus many more.
Throughout the day, attendees will enjoy a great variety of Mexican inspired cuisine and desserts at the festival’s food court as well as Tequila inspired adult beverages hosted by the Cathedral City Evening Rotary. Children will have the time of their lives playing in the free Kid Zone hosted by Quick Quack Car Wash near the Fountain of Life. They can bounce around in five large inflatables and win prizes during musical chairs, sack races, and piñata games.
At noon, a special rededication ceremony will take place on the Main Stage honoring the 20th Anniversary of the Sister City relationship between Cathedral City and Tequila, Jalisco (Mexico). It will provide all the pageantry as the two city councils reconfirm their commitment to build cooperation at the municipal level, promote cultural understanding, and stimulate each city’s economic development.
Shortly thereafter, the wonderful list of musical and dance entertainers begins with Mariachi Limón De Javier Hernandez, Resplendor de Mexico Folkloric, and Codigo 442. At 3:00 p.m. Fashion Designer Claudia Lua of CL Designer Studio showcases the latest fashions for a young lady’s Quinceañera - a timeless tradition recognized throughout Latin America.
As the day turns into night, the musical entertainment continues with the performances of Grupo Neblina, Pedro Torres con Mariachi, The Band Fresh, Casandra con Mariachi, and ends with the evening’s headliner Nacho Bustillos.
Families will want to gather no later than 8:00 p.m. for the spectacular Taste of Jalisco Fireworks Show presented by Noticias 15 Telemundo and La Poderosa 96.7 FM. The night sky in Downtown Cathedral City will light up with the dazzling array of pyrotechnics orchestrated by Garden State Fireworks, known for their shows in Los Angeles and Las Vegas.
Food, music, fireworks, and fun for the whole family are the essential ingredients for Taste of Jalisco.

El 2do Anual Taste de Jalisco, presentado por Southern California Edison, celebra la hermandad de ciudades entre Cathedral City y Tequila, Jalisco (México) a través de la música, moda, paladear tequila, cultura y arte culinaria. Es tiempo de reconocer la fortaleza en nuestra diversidad, apreciar nuestras similitudes, y reafirmar nuestro compromiso diplomático para mejorar las vidas de los residentes de ambas ciudades. El festival se llevará a cabo el sábado 11 de febrero de 2017 de 10:00 a.m. a 10:00 p.m. en Festival Lawn de la Ciudad de la Cathedral ubicado en 68600 East Palm Canyon Drive (HWY 111).
El Taste of Jalisco Parade (Desfile), es presentado por Volkswagen de Palm Springs, el festival comienza a las 10:00 am, y recorre las calles alrededor de ayuntamiento y cuenta con grupos locales de danza, acróbatas de circo, vehículos de bomberos, policía y los maravillosos caballos, Caballos Bailadores de la Alta Escuela del Rancho Arroyo, y muchos más.
A lo largo del día, los concurrentes disfrutarán de una gran variedad de platillos de inspiración Mexicana y postres en el patio del festival, así como de bebidas para adultos inspiradas por el Tequila, patrocinado por el Cathedral City Club Rotario Nocturno. Los niños se divertirán jugando en la Kid Zone presentado por Quick Quack Car Wash cerca de The Fountain of Life (La Fuente de Vida). Pueden brincar en cualquiera de los cinco brincolines inflables grandes y ganar premios durante las sillas musicales, carreras de costal y juegos de piñata. Al mediodía en el escenario principal, se realizará una ceremonia especial para dedicar nuevamente en honor al vigésimo (20 años) aniversario la relación de la Ciudad Hermana entre Cathedral City y Tequila, Jalisco (México). Proporcionará todo el alarde a medida que los dos ayuntamientos reconfirmarán su compromiso de establecer cooperación en el ámbito municipal, promover el entendimiento cultural y estimular el desarrollo económico de cada ciudad.
Poco después, la maravillosa lista de grupos musicales y de baile comienza con Mariachi Limón de Javier Hernández, Grupo Folclórico Resplendor de México, y Código 442. A las 3:00 pm Claudia Lua, diseñadora de moda de CL Designer Studio, presenta lo último en modas para la Quinceañera de una joven - una tradición atemporal reconocida en toda América Latina.
A como el día se convierte en noche, el entretenimiento musical continúa con las actuaciones del Grupo Neblina, Pedro Torres con Mariachi, The Band Fresh, Casandra con Mariachi y termina con el artista principal de la noche, Nacho Bustillos.
Las familias desearan reunirse a más tardar a las 8:00p.m., para el espectacular Show Pirotécnicos Taste of Jalisco presentado por Noticias 15 Telemundo y La Poderosa 96.7 FM. El cielo nocturno en el centro de la Ciudad de Cathedral City se iluminara con la deslumbrante colección de pirotecnia orquestada por Garden State Fireworks, conocidos por sus espectáculos en Los Angeles y Las Vegas.
