City of Cathedral Receives GFOA Recognition for Budget Planning and Reporting

The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) recognized the City of Cathedral City for its biennial budget for the biennium beginning July 1, 2019 through June 30, 2021. Cathedral City received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award as the result of the governing body and staff meeting the highest principles of governmental budgeting.

GFOA is a major professional association serving the needs of 18,000 appointed and elected local, state, and provincial-level government officials and other finance practitioners. It is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.

A panel of independent reviewers completed the examination of the City’s budget document recently and determined that it met the program’s criteria as a policy document, as an operations guide, as a financial plan, and as a communications device.

Congratulations to the City’s Financial Department led by Administrative Services Director Tami Scott for receiving the “Distinguished Budget Presentation Award,” for the eleventh consecutive time.
