COVID-19 Vaccines in Progress along with Updated Vaccination Chart

Riverside County Public Health has released its latest vaccination chart showing the order of groups in which the county will proceed.  As doses of the various vaccines become available, the county will vaccinate hospital workers, first responders, and pharmacy staff in Phase 1a – Tier 1, then they will move to Phase 1a – Tier 2 which includes home healthcare workers, primary care and community clinics as well as healthcare workers at urgent care facilities.

Once most healthcare workers are vaccinated, then Phase 1b will begin with seniors over the age of 75 years, law enforcement, food distribution workers, teachers, postal workers, and public transit workers.  There is no definite timeline as it will depend on how quickly the federal government working with state and county health departments can get the vaccinations out across the nation.

Governor Newsom announced this week that California has opted into the federal COVID-19 Pharmacy Partnership.  At no-cost to state or local government, CVS and Walgreens will administer the Pfizer vaccine to residents and staff in long-term care facilities. The two pharmacy corporations will start with nursing homes, which will take an estimated 3-4 weeks, and then vaccinate staff and residents in assisted living, residential care and other long-term care facilities.
