Deputy Police Chief Anthony Yoakum Announces His Departure, Former Police Chief George Crum Filling In

Deputy Chief and Acting Police Chief Anthony Yoakum announced that he has accepted the Deputy Police Chief position for the City of Beaumont, a community closer to his residency.  Deputy Chief Yoakum joined the Cathedral City Police Department in December of 2017.  Prior to joining the City, Deputy Chief Yoakum spent 29 years with the City of Upland California Police Department.  During his time with Upland he worked a variety of assignments including; Patrol, SWAT, Gangs, Detective, Supervisor, and managerial assignments, culminating with the last three years as a Captain.  His last day with the City of Cathedral will be on February 16, 2020.

 

Cathedral City’s former Police Chief George Crum will return from retirement and serve as the Interim Police Chief until the City can identify a new police chief.  Cathedral City is currently going through a search process to replace former Police Chief Travis Walker who separated from the City back in November.  Former Police Chief Crum proudly served as Cathedral City’s police chief for three years and had more than 30 years in law enforcement experience.   Crum retired from the City of Cathedral City on November 2, 2017.
