SUMMARY:COVID-19 Rental Relief “Application Assistance Pop-Up” Event in Cathedral City
DESCRIPTION:En Español: https://www.unitedlift.org/esp \n  \nThe economic fallout brought on by COVID-19 continues to negatively impact communities through Riverside County. In response\, United Lift––a joint effort by Lift to Rise\, Inland SoCal United Way\, and the County of Riverside––announced that new rental assistance resources will soon become available to keep Riverside County families housed. \n  \nThe Riverside County Board of Supervisors in February voted to approve $57\,267\,219 in emergency rental assistance program funding from the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Combined with previous funding rounds from the CARES Act\, Community Development Block Grant funds and other sources\, United Lift totals more than $90 million. \n  \nThe program is one of the largest per capita allocations of direct rental assistance in the country and one of a handful to operate on a countywide basis. With nearly 2.5 million residents\, Riverside County is the 10th-largest county in the United States. \n  \nApplications for the next round of United Lift rental assistance are available now and will continue until funds are depleted\, or until December 31\, 2021\, whichever happens first. \n  \nThis year\, the program will provide one-time rental assistance support to cover up to 12 months of unpaid rent during the period between March 13\, 2020 until the time of application\, plus an additional three months of future rent. Eligibility is limited to renters in Riverside County with a current lease agreement who are earning 80 percent or below of the area’s median income and can document a loss of income due to COVID-19 economic impacts that leave them unable to make their rent. Assistance is provided without regard to immigration status. \n  \nPriority will be given to households with incomes less than 50 percent of the area median income\, as well as households with one or more adults that have not been employed during the 90 days prior to submitting their application. Landlords with tenants with unpaid debt balances are encouraged to notify their tenants about this program. \n  \nJoin Councilmember Nancy Ross at a mobile “Application Assistance Pop-Up” event that will occur on Saturday\, April 10\, 2021 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm at the new Cathedral City Community Amphitheater located at 68526 Avenida Lalo Guerrero in Cathedral City.  This is a free event with free parking.  No appointment needed.  Representatives will explain the application process and help you with determining your eligibility and filling out the application. \n  \nWhat:                    COVID-19 Rental Assistance Application Pop-Up Event \nWhen:                  Saturday\, April 10\, 2021 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm \nWhere:                 Cathedral City Community Amphitheater\, 68526 Avenida Lalo Guerrero\, Cathedral City \nHow:                     No appointment needed\, just show up. \n\nWhat to Bring with You: \n \n\nProof of COVID-19 Financial Impact \n \n\nProof of 2020 Household Income \n \n  \nMore information on eligibility guidelines and the application portal can be found at UnitedLift.org. \n

SUMMARY:Public Forum on Short-Term Vacation Rentals
DESCRIPTION:The City of Cathedral City will hold two public forums on Short-Term Vacation Rentals (STVR) in order to receive additional feedback and information from the public on this important topic. The public is encouraged to attend and provide their perspective. \n\nSaturday\, October 19\, 2019\n10:00 am to 12:00 (noon)\nCity Hall\nStudy Session Room (1st Floor)\n68-700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero \nHistory: \nAt their July 24th council meeting\, the city council extended the short-term vacation rental (STVR) moratorium for an indefinite period of time to allow for the STVR Task Force to meet\, review\, and make recommendations to the council on how best to solve current issues and enhance enforcement. The STVR Task Force is made up of city staff\, STVR homeowners\, property managers\, and neighbors of STVR properties. \nThe council made three exceptions to the new STVR moratorium including: \n• Existing STVRs can continue to operate.\n• Existing annual STVR renewals will continue.\n• New applications for STVRs will continue in neighborhoods governed by homeowner associations (HOAs) or covenants\, conditions\, and restrictions (CCRs) that specifically permit STVRs. \nCurrent STVR properties can continue to operate under the moratorium; however\, if the property is sold or a change in ownership occurs\, then the STVR license ends as well until the moratorium is lifted. Any property owner that operates an unregistered STVR and violates the moratorium will face a fine of up to $5\,000.
