SUMMARY:Swearing-In Ceremony: Rick Sanchez\, Chief of Police
DESCRIPTION:The community is invited to join the City of Cathedral City for the Swearing-In Ceremony of Rick Sanchez as Chief of Police. A nearly 20-year veteran of the Cathedral City Police Department\, Chief Sanchez rose through the ranks since joining as a police officer in 2006 and makes history as the first Latino to lead the department. \nJoin us in Council Chambers as Chief Sanchez is formally sworn in to lead our department into its next chapter. Stick around after the ceremony for a reception in the Paseo area — tacos included! Hosted by the Cathedral City Police Department. We hope you’ll be part of this special milestone for our city.

SUMMARY:Fall Prevention with Cathedral City Fire & EMS
DESCRIPTION:Cathedral City Fire & EMS\, in collaboration with the Cathedral City Senior Center\, presents a free one-hour session on preventing falls. Staying active is essential to good health as we age\, but the risk of falling\, fracturing bones\, or suffering a traumatic brain injury increases over time. Learn safe medicine practices\, practical tips to fall-proof your home\, steps to prevent fall-related injuries\, and why gait and grip strength matter. According to the CDC\, falls are a leading cause of injury and death among older adults\, with roughly 36 million occurring each year. \nWednesday\, September 16 | 10:00 – 11:00 AM\nCathedral City Senior Center\, 37171 W. Buddy Rogers Ave. \nFree to attend\, no registration necessary. For more information\, visit cathedralcity.gov/departments/fire-department or call (760) 770-8200. \nSwap in CathedralCityFire.org if you’d rather match the flyer exactly — it’s shorter and easier to read on a calendar listing\, which is a fair trade.
