The event is a police-escorted motorcycle ride from Palm Desert to the Cathedral City Community Amphitheater\, where a memorial service will be held. The event supports the PSPOA Memorial Fund\, which benefits fallen officers and their families\, and will feature live music\, a beer garden\, raffles\, and vendors.  Ticket prices are $25 for a single rider\, $30 for a single rider with a passenger\, and $20 for non-riders to attend the event. Proceeds from the event benefit the Palm Springs Police Officers Association Memorial Fund. SUMMARY:Psychic Pet Fundraiser Benefitting Desert Paw Sanctuary
DESCRIPTION:The “Psychic Pet Fundraiser” is focused on raising monies for our local animal shelters\, spay and neuter\, and rescue organizations to care for our furry friends (shelter\, food\, medical). In the past we have been able to raise $3\,000.00 to $5\,000.00 at each event. \nThe event itself is run completely by volunteers! Woof\, Woof Magazine\, and the City of Cathedral City are our media sponsors. \nThe event consists of psychics\, card readers\, channels\, mediums\, animal communicators\, etc. (hence referred to as “healers”) who volunteer their time to give 15-minute mini- readings to the attendees. Attendees can sign up for a single reading\, or more\, for $20.00 each. The healer is encouraged to gather emails and book potential clients for a full session at future time. We do ask that\, if future clients are booked\, the healers donate back to the cause at least 10% of their full session fee. \nThe structure for the event\, which is super flexible and can be tailored per charity and location\, is laid out as follows. This is a four-hour event generally done in the afternoon. An average of six healers will be scheduled for the event and split their time into two shifts\, three healers per two-hour period. In this way\, no one is overworking or over volunteering. \nIdeally\, the event is hosted at a supportive business\, such as a coffee shop\, or restaurant with a patio. The healers are grouped together on the patio while the attendees hang out in the coffee shop/restaurant or some other place. We greatly encourage those in attendance to patronize the business by ordering food and drink. The business is asked to donate 10% of their proceeds for the day\, or at least during the time of the event. \nTo be considered as a recipient for our fundraiser we ask the following: \n\nThe shelter\, foster\, spay/neuter program must be a 501(c)(3). A payment processing system must be in place at the event by the charity to directly receive the funds.\nThe organization receiving the funds must agree to promote the event as much as possible on their social media\, through their newsletter\, and any other way they can help get the word out. Examples of two fliers and photos from past events are below…\nThe organization must provide one to two volunteer to help the day of the to be considered as a healer for our fundraiser we ask the following:\nHave materials to share for your business\, newsletter sign-up sheet\, business card\,\nShare the event on your social\nIf you book a client for a full session after the event\, and they came to you from this event\, tithe back at least 10% to the charity.\nShow up and keep your commitment for the entire time you volunteered No leaving early.\nMaintain a professional demeanor\, presentation\, and attitude at all\n\nThe idea for this fundraiser is to support everyone who participates\, the healers get new clients\, the event location (coffee shop or restaurant) gets patrons\, the charity gets funds to support their cause. DESCRIPTION:WHAT: Members of the Desert RATS Amateur Radio Club and Coachella Valley Amateur Radio Emergency Service will be participating in the national amateur radio Field Day Event\, June 28 2025 at the Cathedral City Library from 11am to 4pm. Since 1933\, ham radio operators across North America have established temporary ham radio stations in public locations during Field Day to showcase the science and skill of amateur radio. This event is open to the public and all are encouraged to attend. There will be demonstrations of almost every aspect of Ham Radio including voice communication\, digital modes\, antennas\, repeaters\, satellites\, radio propagation\, email without the internet\, and emergency communication. Other community organizations related to emergency preparedness will also be participating. \nWHEN: Saturday\, June 28\, 2025 11am to 4pm \nWHERE: Cathedral City Library\, 33520 Date Palm Dr\, Cathedral City\, CA 92234 \nWHY: Field Day is a showcase for how amateur radio works reliably under any conditions from almost any location to create an independent communications network. “Ham radio functions completely independent of the Internet or cell phone infrastructure\, can interface with laptops or smartphones\, and can be set up almost anywhere in minutes. That’s the beauty of amateur radio during a communications outage\,” said Sierra Harrop\, W5DX\, Public Relations and Outreach Manager for ARRL The National Association for Amateur Radio®\, which represents amateur (or“ham”) radio operators across the country. “In today’s connected world\, ham radio remains one of the best ways for people to learn about electronics\, physics\, meteorology\, and numerous other scientific disciplines\, and is a huge asset to any community during disasters or emergencies if the standard communication infrastructure goes down. Ham radio is also a great sandbox for tomorrow’s technology leaders to get hands-on with STEM concepts\,” Harrop added. \nAnyone may become a licensed amateur radio operator. There are more than 750\,000 licensed hams in the United States\, as young as 9 and as old as 100. And with clubs such as the Desert RATS Radio Club\, it’s easy for anybody to get involved right here in the Coachella Valley.
