SUMMARY:Public Forum on Short-Term Vacation Rentals
DESCRIPTION:Two Public Forums Scheduled to Discuss Short-Term Vacation Rentals in Cathedral City \nThe City of Cathedral City will hold two public forums on Short-Term Vacation Rentals (STVR) in order to receive additional feedback and information from the public on this important topic. The public is encouraged to attend and provide their perspective. The two forums are: \n1. Tuesday\, October 1\, 2019\n6:00 pm to 8:00 pm\nCathedral City Public Library\n33520 Date Palm Drive \n2. Saturday\, October 19\, 2019\n10:00 am to 12:00 (noon)\nCity Hall\nStudy Session Room (1st Floor)\n68-700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero \nHistory: \nAt their July 24th council meeting\, the city council extended the short-term vacation rental (STVR) moratorium for an indefinite period of time to allow for the STVR Task Force to meet\, review\, and make recommendations to the council on how best to solve current issues and enhance enforcement. The STVR Task Force is made up of city staff\, STVR homeowners\, property managers\, and neighbors of STVR properties. \nThe council made three exceptions to the new STVR moratorium including: \n\n• Existing STVRs can continue to operate.\n• Existing annual STVR renewals will continue.\n• New applications for STVRs will continue in neighborhoods governed by homeowner associations (HOAs) or covenants\, conditions\, and restrictions (CCRs) that specifically permit STVRs. \nCurrent STVR properties can continue to operate under the moratorium; however\, if the property is sold or a change in ownership occurs\, then the STVR license ends as well until the moratorium is lifted. Any property owner that operates an unregistered STVR and violates the moratorium will face a fine of up to $5\,000. For more information\, go to http://www.cathedralcity.gov/i-want-to/get/short-term-vacation-rentals.

SUMMARY:Groundbreaking Ceremony for Cathedral City’s New Downtown Fire Station 411 Happens on October 10th
DESCRIPTION:The City Council of Cathedral City\, the City Urban Revitalization Corporation (C.U.R.C.) and Cathedral City Fire Department invite you to a “Groundbreaking Ceremony” on Thursday\, October 10\, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. for the new downtown Fire Station 411\, to be built at the northwest corner of Buddy Rogers Avenue and Date Palm Drive in Cathedral City. \nThe $8.2 million state-of-the-art fire station will replace the current fire station located across the road\, on the southwest corner of Buddy Rogers Avenue and Date Palm Drive\, that has outlived its intended usage. The new Fire Station 411 has been designed for the next 50 years of service providing space for a 10-person emergency response crew. It will allow for a ladder truck\, fire engine\, and ambulance. The new station will include dorm facilities\, kitchen\, office space\, and fitness center for firefighters to remain prepared for emergency responses. The new fire station expected completion date is October 2020. \nFunding for the fire station came from land sale receipts in the downtown area with a large portion coming from Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians’ purchase of nearly 13 acres of land at the northwest corner of Date Palm Drive and East Palm Canyon Drive (HWY 111). The tribe plans to build a mixed-use gaming entertainment center that will include restaurants and retail uses. \nWhat: “Cathedral City Downtown Fire Station 411 Groundbreaking Ceremony” \nWhere: Northwest corner of Buddy Rogers Avenue and Date Palm Drive\, Cathedral City (68950 Buddy Rogers Avenue) \nWhen: Thursday\, October 10\, 2019 at 8:00 a.m. \nFor more information\, contact the Cathedral City Fire Department at (760) 770-8200

SUMMARY:Public Forum on Short-Term Vacation Rentals
DESCRIPTION:The City of Cathedral City will hold two public forums on Short-Term Vacation Rentals (STVR) in order to receive additional feedback and information from the public on this important topic. The public is encouraged to attend and provide their perspective. \n\nSaturday\, October 19\, 2019\n10:00 am to 12:00 (noon)\nCity Hall\nStudy Session Room (1st Floor)\n68-700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero \nHistory: \nAt their July 24th council meeting\, the city council extended the short-term vacation rental (STVR) moratorium for an indefinite period of time to allow for the STVR Task Force to meet\, review\, and make recommendations to the council on how best to solve current issues and enhance enforcement. The STVR Task Force is made up of city staff\, STVR homeowners\, property managers\, and neighbors of STVR properties. \nThe council made three exceptions to the new STVR moratorium including: \n• Existing STVRs can continue to operate.\n• Existing annual STVR renewals will continue.\n• New applications for STVRs will continue in neighborhoods governed by homeowner associations (HOAs) or covenants\, conditions\, and restrictions (CCRs) that specifically permit STVRs.

SUMMARY:2019 Cathedral City Senior Center's Pasta Suprema!
DESCRIPTION:WHO: Cathedral City Senior Center \nWHAT: Annual Benefit Dinner for the CC Senior Center “Pasta Suprema!” \nWHEN: Thursday\, Nov. 14\nNo Host Beer & Wine Bar Open at 6 pm\nBuffet Pasta Dinner starts at 7 pm\nSpecial Presentation at 8 pm (15 minutes) \nWHERE: Cathedral City Senior Center\n37171 W. Buddy Rogers Ave.\nCathedral City\, CA 92234 \nTickets: www.TheCCSC.org – 760-321-1548 \nWHY: To raise money to support special programs and the operating fund. \n  \nThe Cathedral City Senior Center is hosting its fourth annual benefit Pasta Dinner on Thursday\, Nov. 14. The Pasta Suprema! event helps underwrite special programs and general operating expenses of the Senior Center and is open to the general public. \nAn elegant pasta and sauce bar is being hosted by primary event sponsor Nicolino’s Famous Italian Restaurant. “This is no typical ‘spaghetti feed\,’” points out Mark Carnevale\, owner of the restaurant and Mayor of Cathedral City. “Guests can select their own favorites from an array of pastas\, sausages\, meatballs and delicious sauces\,” he says. \nA no-host wine and beer bar will also be available\, along with a hosted dessert bar. The event will take place in the Senior Center’s main room and adjoining patio (weather permitting). \nExecutive Director Geoff Corbin says\, “We have been very fortunate the past year to gain many new sponsors and friends and acquire grants for specific programs for seniors. The hardest part is finding money for special programs and general operating expenses. Somehow\, we must be able to pay for the utilities\, phone\, internet\, staffing\, etc. So\, these kinds of programs like the Pasta Suprema! help out tremendously!” \nTickets are just $45 per person and are available by calling the Cathedral City Senior Center at 760-321-1548. The price includes a complete dinner\, with salad\, bread\, pasta bar and dessert. No Host wine and beer also available. \nGillian Cross\, President of the Senior Center’s Board says\, “We realize we’re not a big organization even compared to the other local senior centers. So\, our Board made the concerted decision to have three to four smaller fundraising events a year rather than trying to rely upon one large gala for our funding. For us\, these three or four events are manageable with our limited staff\, seven-person board of directors and dozens of dedicated volunteers.” \n“Our next event will be our 3rd Chili Cook Off which will be held in the first quarter of 2020\,” says Gillian Cross. “We also rely upon our periodic rummage and Pop Up Boutique sales – which are completely volunteer run – to help boost the income budget” concludes Gillian Cross. \n-CCSC-\nThe Cathedral City Senior Center is a nonprofit organization – 501 (c)(3). Donations are tax deductible to the extent allowed by IRS rules and regulations.\nIt is located at 37-171 West Buddy Rogers Ave. – Cathedral City\, CA 92234 across Highway 111 from the Cathedral City City Hall Complex. \nCall 760-321-1548 for more information. \nFollow us on Facebook: Cathedral City Senior Center\nWebsite: www.TheCCSC.org \n  \nMission\nThe mission of the Cathedral City Senior Center is to improve the quality of life for seniors 50+ living in Cathedral City and the surrounding communities. The purpose of the center is to assist all seniors from the active to the home-bound by providing services that channel energy\, relieve suffering\, and foster health\, happiness\, and well-being. \nVision\nThe Cathedral City Senior Center is filled with a diversity of friendly\, smiling\, and happy people 50+ years\, taking part of in challenging\, enriching and supportive activities in a state-of-the-art facility with space to accommodate relevant programs and services.
