National Fire Prevention Week Celebration & Farmers’ Market Enjoyed by Many

Hundreds of Cathedral City residents and beyond gathered in downtown on October 5th to celebrate National Fire Prevention Week and the seasonal opening of the weekly Cathedral City Farmers’ Market.

Thanks to the Cathedral City Professional Firefighters Association, children and those young-at-heart got a close-up view of the fire trucks, an honorary firefighter’s helmet, balloons and stickers. With temperatures reaching well past 100 degrees, the children also enjoyed splashing around in the Fountain of Life located in Town Square.

Families also enjoyed the culinary choices of gourmet food trucks while dining outside to live musical performances sponsored by Coachella Valley Art Scene.

The summer’s heat continuing to be felt in the fall also provided an opportunity to taste some of the best craft beers in the valley from the La Quinta Brewing Company and the Coachella Valley Brewery Company at the beer garden.

Finally, hundreds shopped for the best produce, arts and crafts, baked goods, and delicious BBQ at the start of the weekly farmers’ market. The City of Cathedral City hosted a booth and provided reusable shopping bags and promotional items about the Cathedral City Dog Park thanks to City’s Environmental Conservation program and volunteers from the Cathedral City Evening Rotary.

The City thanks all who came out to support these great events. If you missed Sunday’s fun, please join us on Sunday, November 2nd for the start of the First Sundays Gourmet Food Truck Fare featuring a great selection of gourmet food trucks and live entertainment from Coachella Valley Art Scene. Free admission.
