Nearly 62% of Cathedral City Is Vaccinated Against the Coronavirus

Keeping you and your family healthy remains key to keeping our businesses open and safe!  Anyone 12 years of age and older is able to quickly, easily get the COVID-19 vaccination at a local pharmacy or medical provider.  There are no more long lines or the need to drive across the county.  Available vaccine locations are more likely than not to be in your neighborhood.

When it comes to shots in the arms, the percentage of Cathedral City residents being vaccinated is good, especially when you consider that children under age 12 are currently unable to get vaccinated.  Cathedral City has a much younger population than our neighboring cities, such as Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs.  Furthermore, Cathedral City surpasses the national average of a 49.2% vaccination rate.  That is great news for our city!

However, we need everyone who is eligible to get vaccinated now.  We have made great strides in turning the tidal wave of coronavirus infections we experienced over the winter holidays, but the trend line is starting to climb once again.  The more people who get vaccinated, the more likely it is for us to stop the spread in its tracks.  This is particularly important in light of the new Delta variant being twice as contagious as the novel coronavirus that started in 2019.

Here are the latest numbers for the percentage of the population that is vaccinated by city:

  1. Rancho Mirage  86.12%
  2. Indian Wells  84.60%
  3. Palm Springs  81.08%
  4. Palm Desert  74.71%
  5. La Quinta   69.93%
  6. Cathedral City  61.57%
  7. Indio  56.85%
  8. Desert Hot Springs  50.86%
  9. Coachella  49.27%

To schedule a vaccination appointment, contact your medical provider or local pharmacy.  To schedule an appointment through the Riverside County Department of Health, go to https://www.rivcoph.org/COVID-19-Vaccine or to learn about the safety of the vaccines, go to https://www.rivcoph.org/vaccine-safety or your medical provider.  Together, we can prevent the unnecessary infections that cause illnesses, hospitalizations, and worse, deaths from this highly contagious disease.
