Neighborhood Meet-Up and State Parks Filming Occurred at Ocotillo Park

Councilmember Nancy Ross organized two Ocotillo Park Neighborhood Meet-Ups over the past few weeks with the last one occurring this past Saturday, May 7th.  Neighbors were able to hear from representatives from the Coachella Valley Water District as well as Cathedral City police, fire, and city administration on a variety of topics that included:

Installation of Sewer Service

Desert Recreation District Expansion

Naming Cathedral City Neighborhoods

Preventing crime

Later that morning, Councilmembers Nancy Ross and Rita Lamb along with former Parks and Recreation Commissioners Diane Hines and Shauna McGloin were interviewed by the California State Parks as Ocotillo Park was chosen as only one of five parks throughout the state to highlight in a new video they are producing.  The video will show the significance that local parks, funded through the State Parks Program, play by allowing Californians to build a connection with nature.  It will also highlight how neighbors came together to design a park that fits their needs and helped improve community pride.

The Statewide Park Program offers communities with nearby nature opportunities, recreation, community hubs and a safe space for children and families. We will share the video from the five state parks once it becomes available.
