Two Candidates Qualify for the District 1 Special Election

On August 27, 2019, the City of Cathedral City will conduct an election for the purpose of electing one member to the City Council to fill a vacant seat in District One.  This term will expire once the November 2020 Election Results have been certified by the Registrar of Voters Office and accepted by the City Council.  This special election is a vote by mail only.  There will be no polling places on election day.

The Riverside County Registrar of Voters will be conducting this election for the City and all ballots will be mailed, received and counted by their office.

Nomination period opened on May 6, 2019, and closed on May 30, 2019.  The following are the two qualified candidates:

Rita Lamb

Between July 29, 2019 and August 17, 2019, the Registrar of Voters Office shall mail to all qualified voters an official ballot, instructions for voting, and pamphlets with all necessary materials for voting by mail.

Postage-paid envelopes will be provided for mailed ballot return.  For convenience, ballots may be dropped off at Cathedral City City Hall, located at 68-700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, Cathedral City, CA 92234.  City Hall is open Monday through Thursday, 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Ballots may also be dropped off at the Registrar of Voters Office, located at 224 Gateway Drive, Riverside, CA 92507.  The Registrar’s Office is open Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  Voted ballots must be postmarked on or before August 27, 2019, and received within three days by the Registrar of Voters.  All voters are encouraged to return ballots early. 

For the purpose of this election, City Hall and the Registrar of Voters Office will be open from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on August 27, 2019, to receive ballots.

Please note that August 12, 2019, is the last day to register to vote or transfer registration for this election.  Voter registration cards are available at City Hall.  Voter registration is also available on the Registrar of Voters website at www.voteinfo.net.
