Recapping a Record-Breaking February/March Events Season & Looking Ahead to 2023-2024
Dear Cathedral City Residents,
Thank you for helping us make the City’s February/March 2023 events a huge success! In addition to record attendance at the 7th Annual Taste of Jalisco Festival with estimated crowds of 15,000-20,000 attendees during the three-day event, the bed races at Cathedral City LGBT Days also experienced a record turnout. The foundation behind the success of these events is our diversity and the incredible residents who call Cathedral City home. While we love to welcome visitors from across the Coachella Valley and beyond, our team continues to be focused on providing an enhanced experience for our citizens and ways to provide more free and affordable entertainment.
While it was a busy spring for signature festivals, there were also opportunities to host special events at our beautiful Community Amphitheater. The City was honored to host the Membership Meeting of the League of California Cities – Riverside County Division in our Community Amphitheater on March 13, 2023. We welcomed Division President, Perris Mayor Michael Vargas, and the rest of the board who keep the League of Cities operating for the betterment of our communities and the constituents we serve. The Cathedral City Community Amphitheater is located at 68526 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, at the corner of Cathedral Canyon Drive and Avenida Lalo Guerrero within the civic center complex and adjacent to the Downtown Parking Structure.
The interactive outdoor amphitheater space is just getting started when it comes to attracting cultural entertainment, recreational events, and activities. Communication & Events is busy planning for a new weekly event titled The Tastes & Sounds of Cathedral City, a weekly food and live music event in the amphitheater set to run from February to early April in 2024-2025 (nine weeks). This will be free, feature local musicians, and will support small businesses and restaurants throughout Cathedral City. Stay tuned for exciting announcements ahead related to this event, some annual favorites, and new opportunities at www.discovercathedralcity.com. And thank you again for making our community such a special place to live, work and play!
