Community Update By Ryan Hunt, Communications and Events Manager
Cathedral City has always attracted immensely talented artists. The City’s vibrant art scene has matured in recent years, with multiple art gallery openings, new destinations, pop-up spaces, and art events both children and adults can enjoy. Cathedral City describes itself as ‘Where Art Lives,’ and an integral component that celebrates this in our community is The Perez Art District.
Beginning in September 2023, The Perez Art District’s highly anticipated Art Walk event moves to Fourth Fridays at 4 p.m. The season’s inaugural event is scheduled for Sept. 22, 2023, promising an immersive experience for art enthusiasts and the local community.
Conveniently located at 68845 Perez Rd in Cathedral City, California, the Perez Art District is home to a vibrant community of artists. Visitors to the district will have the opportunity to explore the working studios of over 30 talented artists in the H and I Buildings, with an additional 6 artists in the A and C Buildings. The Art Walk offers a unique chance to witness the creative process across a variety of disciplines, including painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed media.
“We are moving our event to Fourth Fridays at 4pm because we wanted to offer an art experience on an alternative week to many of the other art events in the valley. Hosting the art walk as a regular event for the community to enjoy, allows collectors and other visitors to watch the growth of an artist’s work over time,” said Anne Bedrick, one of the founding artists in the district. “By opening up our studios to the public, we aim to foster a deeper connection between the artists and the community and provide a dynamic platform for art appreciation.”
To stay updated on upcoming events, follow the Perez Art District on social media:
Mark your calendars for the first event of the season on September 22, 2023. Find us in buildings A, C, H, and I along Perez Rd in Cathedral City, CA. The Art Walk will commence at 4 p.m. and run until 7 p.m., allowing ample time for attendees to discover the diverse range of artistic styles within the district.
For media inquiries and further information, please contact Anne Bedrick at anne@annebedrick.com. In the meantime, please check out our newly designed Public Arts website. The site gives residents and visitors easy access to locations on public art, galleries, artists/art tours, as well as the history of public art in Cathedral City.
