2022 State of the City Video Now Available

On Thursday, May 19th, Mayor Ernesto Gutierrez presented the State of the City to nearly 225 people at the DoubleTree Golf Resort by Hilton in Cathedral City.  The State of the City highlighted the significant progress made over the past year as well as projects coming soon to Cathedral City.

Mayor Gutierrez conducted three panel discussions with invited guests to learn more about many new projects on the horizon.  The first panel discussion focused on the Downtown Arts & Entertainment District featuring a video from the new artistic director of CVRep, Adam Karsten, and a preview of the new shows coming this season to CVRep, which was announced by Board Member David Cohan.  The discussion also included Co-Owner Brent Miller of the new Luchador Brewing Company, which will open soon in the former Bonta Restaurant adjacent to the CVRep Playhouse.  Finally, Mayor Gutierrez interviewed Michael McVay, co-owner and chef, of the new Salt Flats Restaurant that is receiving high praise from all the food critics and foodies.

In the second panel discussion, Mayor Gutierrez interviews two of the principals from the new La Paloma Resort which will open soon near the Cree Estate behind Target.  People are already commenting that this four-star hotel will be the “Parker” of  Cathedral City.  You will get an insight into this new resort from General Manager Dan Ferrante and Developer Aaron Whitfield.  The resort will also have a new Spanish restaurant called, “Sol y Sambra” that is being developed by local celebrity chef Chad Gardner.  Chef Gardner of Gardner Hospitality Group also co-owns 1501 Uptown Gastro Pub, Roly’s China Bistro, and 533 Viet Fusion in Palm Springs as well as the new Willie’s Restaurant in Rancho Mirage, and Dash and a Handful Catering.

In the third panel discussion, Mayor Gutierrez interviews Desert Recreation District Board Member Jonathan Becerra about potential plans for Cathedral City residents to vote on the expansion into the recreation district.  You will hear more about the benefits of this proposal by watching the video.

Finally, each of the council members have a video segment on important topics such as quality of life, economic development, the housing market, and city services including improvements to our police and fire departments.  This is a State of the City video not to be missed.
