The City of Cathedral City is pleased to announce the appointment of Asusena “Suzie” Soren as Human Resources Manager. Soren brings extensive public sector experience and proven leadership in human resources management to her new role.

Suzie’s experience will be instrumental in supporting our employees and advancing our city’s mission to serve our community.”

Soren most recently served as Deputy City Manager for the City of San Bernardino, where she successfully oversaw multiple critical departments including Finance, Information Technology, Animal Services, Human Resources, and the Call Center. Prior to that role, she served as San Bernardino’s Director of Human Resources beginning in 2021.
Her distinguished career in public service spans over two decades, including fourteen years with the County of San Bernardino in Human Resources, where she served in various capacities including as Chief Learning Officer. Soren also brings valuable private sector experience, having served as Labor Relations Coordinator for Stater Bros. Markets, where she successfully worked with the Director of Labor Relations in managing an impressive operation of 150 stores and 17,000 employees.
Soren’s leadership in the field has been recognized by the League of Women in Government, which featured her in their “Celebrate #SheLeadsGov” program, highlighting her contributions as a notable female leader in local government.
Soren holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from California State University, San Bernardino, and a master’s degree in public administration from California Baptist University.
The Human Resources Manager position is responsible for overseeing all aspects of human resources operations for the City, including recruitment, employee relations, benefits administration, and policy development.
