2026 Community Survey Results Released as Part of Cathedral City’s Strategic Planning Process

On June 22, 2022, the City Council authorized the City Manager to enter into a contract with Moore Iacofano Goltsman, Inc (MIG) to provide facilitation services for preparation of the City of Cathedral City’s 5 Year Strategic Plan.

As part of that ongoing effort, Fairbank, Maslin, Maullin, Metz & Associates (FM3) conducted a follow-up Community Survey in January 2026, building on the initial survey completed in January 2023. The 2026 survey gathered input from 508 Cathedral City residents age 18 and older through telephone and online interviews conducted in both English and Spanish.

The updated survey results track how resident opinions have shifted over the past three years and provide data to guide the City’s strategic planning priorities moving forward. The survey slides are included below.

Key themes from the 2026 survey include:

  • Three-quarters of residents (76%) rate Cathedral City as an excellent or good place to live
  • A majority (52%) believe the City is headed in the right direction
  • Roads, infrastructure, and flooding of local streets are the top concerns among residents
  • Emergency preparedness, code enforcement, and fire department upgrades are leading priorities for future planning
  • A majority indicate a need for more affordable housing options
