The Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission (PACE), in partnership with the Mary Pickford Theatre, presents the return of the “Free Summer Kids Movie Series,” happening every Friday at 10:00 a.m. starting Friday, June 12, 2026, through Friday, July 31, 2026. Doors open at 9:30 a.m. The film series offers free admission to a different kid-friendly movie each Friday morning at the Mary Pickford Theatre in Downtown Cathedral City. Seating is limited and offered on a first-come, first-seated basis.
The series arrives on the heels of a milestone year for the theatre, which marked 25 years of cinematic memories with a special three-day anniversary celebration in May 2026. The “Free Summer Kids Movie Series” continues that spirit of community connection, bringing families together for a summer of free movie mornings in the heart of downtown.
The Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission will offer a free small water and a junior popcorn for the first 100 people to arrive at each event during the 8-week period. Refreshments are sponsored by Dinner with Patsi, NAI Consulting, and Fomotor Engineering.
Free books will be available at every movie, donated by the Read With Me Volunteer Programs. A book will also be read by the Riverside County Library System before every movie.
Additionally, guests can enjoy a free ICEE upgrade on Kids Combo Packs at all Summer Series shows, with beverage support from Pepsi and ICEE.
Community Partners
Dinner with Patsi, NAI Consulting, and Fomotor Engineering are providing sponsorship support for refreshments at the 2026 series and will receive recognition on promotional materials and at each event. Read With Me Volunteer Programs continues its partnership by providing free books at every movie, and the Riverside County Library System will read stories to children before each film begins. Pepsi and ICEE round out this year’s sponsors with beverage support.
