Applications Now Available for Public Arts Commission’s Quarterly Group Art Exhibits at Cathedral City Library

The City’s Public Arts Commission invites artists from Cathedral City to participate in a series of Quarterly Art Exhibits at the Cathedral City Library, 33520 Date Palm Dr, Cathedral City, CA 92234! 10 artists will be selected to show at each event (details below).

Artist Guidelines

Art can be available for sale if artists have methods of taking payment (i.e. Square, PayPal, Zelle, etc.). All sales are between the artist and buyer. The City will not charge any fees to the artists and there is no entrance fee for artists or viewers.

Artists will be designated a space to display art that will safely fit into the space allowed. All art will be reviewed and accepted when application is submitted with photos, however the Public Arts Commission reserves the right to reject art that depicts sexual conduct or sexually explicit nudity or advertises any activity illegal under the laws of California or the United States.  Artists agree that they are the sole owner and author of the copyrights for all designs and art pieces submitted and agree to indemnify and hold the City harmless from damages that may arise from copyright infringement by a third party.

Tables and chairs will be provided by the library. Artists will provide their own display easels, hanging racks or pedestals. No art will be hung on the walls. Artists are responsible for loading and unloading their artwork; there will not be staff or volunteers available to help to move art.

The Quarterly Art Exhibits will be on Saturdays & Sundays from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Art can be installed on the Thursday before the show and must be removed on Sunday at the end of the show.  Artists must be present during the entire event and must remove all art and equipment on the last day of the show at 4:00 p.m.

The City and Cathedral City Library will make every effort to protect the art displayed but cannot take responsibility in the unlikely event of damage or theft. Artists will be asked to sign a waiver at the mandatory meeting.

Please indicate which shows you are requesting for on the application, which you can find here. Artists may apply for all shows; however, the Commission will try to accommodate as many different artists as possible.

How to submit: Email the application to publicartscommission@cathedralcity.gov attention Rick Travis, PAC Commissioner. For questions, please contact Commissioner Travis at (562) 243-2918.
