Cathedral City Announces FY 2025/2026 Community Assistance and Public Arts Grant Programs

Applications Now Being Accepted for Upcoming Fiscal Year

 Cathedral City is pleased to announce the opening of two important grant programs for Fiscal Year 2025/2026: the Community Assistance Grant Program and the Public Arts Commission Grant Program. These initiatives represent the City’s ongoing commitment to supporting local organizations that enhance the quality of life for our residents.

Community Assistance Grant Program – $70,000 Available

The City Council has approved $70,000 in General Fund allocations to support requests for grants and sponsorships from community non-profit organizations and other governmental jurisdictions. The program aims to support organizations that provide essential services to Cathedral City residents and businesses.

 Program Guidelines

To be considered for funding, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Be a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization or a tribal or governmental agency
  • Be based in Cathedral City OR demonstrate they provide services to residents or businesses of Cathedral City
  • Demonstrate they receive funding from other sources and are not relying solely on City support
  • Preference will be given to applicants meeting health and human service needs of underserved populations

Grant Request Range

Organizations may submit applications for funding requests between $1,000 and $10,000.

Public Arts Commission Grant Program – $20,000 Available

Additionally, the City is offering a Public Arts Commission Grant Program funded at $20,000 to support art programming and educational endeavors within the community.

Important Dates

  • Application Period Opens: Friday, March 14, 2025
  • Application Deadline: Friday, April 18, 2025 (5:00 PM PDT)
  • City Council Award Approval: Wednesday, June 11, 2025
  • Award Notification: No later than Tuesday, July 1, 2025

Application Process

Both grant programs will run simultaneously in terms of application deadlines. Organizations that received funding in FY 2024/2025 must communicate the implementation of their previously awarded funds to apply for FY 2025/2026 grant awards.

Applications must be submitted electronically by the deadline. The grant programs and applications will be advertised through local media, the City’s website, social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and Nextdoor), and will be included on the Discover Cathedral City website.

For the Community Assistance Grant Program, a City Council Ad Hoc subcommittee consisting of Councilmembers Gutierrez and Lamb will review applications and make recommendations for funding to the full Council. For the Public Arts Commission Grant Program, the Commission will review and recommend applications for funding to the City Council who will have final approval.

Program Guidelines

To be considered for funding, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Applicants can be an individual (must complete a W-9), a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, private entity, government, school, or tribal agency.
  • Must demonstrate that the activity proposed occurs within the geographical boundaries of the City of Cathedral City.
  • Individual/Organizational residency in Cathedral City is not a requirement as long as the proposed project occurs in the City.
  • Proposed activities must be reasonably available to members of the general public.
  • Grant activities must be completed by June 30, 2026.
  • Grant recipients must comply with all grant requirements and reporting obligations.

Grant Request Range

Organizations may submit applications for funding requests between $1,000 and $5,000.

Grant applications must be received by 5:00 pm PDT on Thursday, April 18, 2025. The City anticipates the awarding of grants no later than July 1, 2025.

Public Arts Grant

Grant applications can be submitted via email to AAmbrose@cathedralcity.gov or addressed to the City of Cathedral City, 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, Cathedral City CA 92234, ATTN: Anne Ambrose, Assistant City Manager. Grant applications must be received by 5:00 pm PDT on Thursday, April 18, 2025. The City anticipates the awarding of grants no later than July 1, 2025.
