Cathedral City Ranked in the Top 50 Safest Cities in California – Again!

Each year, Safewise.com reviews the national crime data and safety trends and releases an annual report called the Top 50 Safest Cities in California.  For the second year in a row, Cathedral City was ranked in the Top 50 Safest Cities in California.  In fact, Cathedral City ranked #41 out of 230 cities reviewed by SafeWise.  It was the only city in the Coachella Valley to achieve this distinction.  You can review the data at https://www.safewise.com/blog/safest-cities-california/#list.

Much of the dramatic crime reduction in Cathedral City from just a decade ago can be attributed to the relationship our police department has developed with the community.  Under the leadership of Police Chief George Crum, the department has worked to get to know the residents and the residents have gotten to know the men and women who serve in our locally controlled police department.  Our police officers not only serve and protect our city every day, but they invest in reaching out to the community to listen, make connections, and offer assistance. You will see our officers at our special events, such as Halloween Spooktacular handing out candy to children and communicating with parents.  They annually organize their own programs such as “Shop with a Cop” to purchase holiday gifts for low-income children and they take holiday packages door-to-door at low-income senior apartments.

KESQ’s Jake Ingrassia reported on Cathedral City’s wonderful achievement, and you can view it here:
