Cathedral City Receives COVID-19 Protective Equipment from CVEP

The Coachella Valley Economic Partnership (CVEP) was one of only 3 non-government agencies in California to receive Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) from the California Office of Emergency Services.  Their objective is to get the bulk of the PPE (medical masks, face shields and hand sanitizer) to Coachella Valley businesses in order for those companies to thrive during the pandemic.  CVEP determined that the best mechanism for distribution would be to donate the PPE directly to the local nine Coachella Valley cities.

Today, Mayor Pro Tem Ernesto Gutierrez and Councilmembers Mark Carnevale and Nancy Ross, on behalf of the city council and city, accepted over $130,000 worth of PPE from CVEP to get distributed out to Cathedral City businesses.  Cathedral City will receive in the next few days:

  • 132,000 single use surgical masks
  • 9,000 half liter bottles of hand sanitizer
  • 3,800 face shields

Soon, the City will provide more information on how your business can pick-up the PPE and begin using it in order to help slow the spread of the coronavirus.  If you have any questions, please contact the City’s Economic Development Department at (760) 770-0336 or email to sjames@cathedralcity.gov.
