Cathedral City Showed Its “Pride” in the Palm Springs Pride Parade

Cathedral City participated in the 35th Annual Palm Spring Pride Parade on Sunday featuring its new float with a message “There’s No Place Like Home”.  Designed by Jimmy Cantua and Ralph Thompson, the float featured a hot air balloon to promote the upcoming Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival (November 19-21), a bed float to promote Cathedral City LGBT Days’ Bed Race (March 25-27, 2022), and 40th Anniversary Celebration coming up on November 20th during the Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival.

Going with the 40th Anniversary celebration theme, the float featured most of the city councilmembers and a cast of characters from the Wizard of Oz including Dorothy, Glinda the Good Witch, the Wicked Witch of the West, the Lion, Scarecrow, Tin Man, and several flying monkeys.  Everyone was dancing to Cher’s live version of “Take Me Home.”

Thanks to all the volunteers who helped make the float and walked in the parade. It was a huge hit with the more than 125,000 parade viewers.
