The City of Cathedral City’s Halloween Spooktacular, presented by Grocery Outlet, celebrates a milestone 10th anniversary this year with trick-or-treating and more than 70,000 pieces of candy! The free, family-friendly event takes place in Downtown Cathedral City in front of City Hall, 68700 Avenida Lalo Guerrero, from noon to 3 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 25, 2026.
What began as a small community gathering has grown into one of the Coachella Valley’s favorite Halloween traditions. A decade later, the Spooktacular continues to bring together thousands of families, neighbors, and the public safety professionals who serve them.
Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest Kicks Off the Weekend
Four-legged friends get their turn first! The Howl-O-Ween Dog Costume Contest, sponsored by Grocery Outlet, returns on Saturday, Oct. 24, at Panorama Park Dog Park (28905 Avenida Maravilla). Registration begins at 9 a.m., with the contest starting at 9:30 a.m.
Presented by the Cathedral City Parks and Community Events Commission, the contest features two categories for small and large dogs, with prizes awarded for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place in each category, plus a prize for best costume combo dog/owner. Pet parents are encouraged to join in the fun and dress up alongside their pups for a howling good time!
A Spooktacular Afternoon for All Ages
Join friends, neighbors, and family for a Spooktacular time including trick-or-treating at more than 20 vendor booths, Halloween costume contests with bicycles given away each hour, exhibitions by Cathedral City Police and Cathedral City Fire, music, and family games. Looking to add a furry member to the family? Desert Paws Sanctuary will be on site with adoptable dogs.
Serving as Cathedral City’s version of National Night Out, Halloween Spooktacular provides residents with the opportunity to learn about the police and fire departments, view special demonstrations, and get to know the men and women who serve them each day. This community-building event strengthens the partnership between public safety and residents in a fun, family-friendly atmosphere. Admission is free, and free parking is also available.
Keep the Fun Going at the Movies
After the Spooktacular wraps up, head just around the corner to Mary Pickford Theatre is D’Place for a special 3:30 p.m. screening of The Addams Family 2 for just $1! Seating is first come, first served, so arrive early to grab your spot.
