City Council Approves Traffic Signal Boxes to Be Wrapped with Historic Photos

Supported by the Cathedral City Public Arts Commission, the City Council voted Wednesday night to allow five traffic signal boxes along East Palm Canyon Drive (HWY 111) to be wrapped with historic photographs in celebration of the City’s history and its 40th Anniversary coming up in November.

Four of the five wrapped boxes will show photos captured and retained by the Cathedral City Historical Society and one box wrapped with historic photos contributed by Agua Caliente Band of Cahuilla Indians.  The boxes are scheduled to be wrapped in time for the City’s 40th Anniversary Celebration to take place during the Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival, November 19, 2021 through November 21, 2021.  Funding for the project comes from the Art in Public Spaces Fund collected through development fees and not at taxpayers’ expense.
