City Council Extends Facial Covering Emergency Order to December 10th

The City Council voted 3-2 Wednesday night to extend a citywide Emergency Order that requires the use of facial coverings (masks) at all indoor public spaces and outdoor public spaces when social distancing with others outside of your household is not possible. Several exceptions would include eating, drinking, or receiving services that requires the removal of a mask including facials and facial hair treatments. The new Emergency Order #5B will extend through December 10, 2021.  The City Council will look at the positive case data by December 10th to determine whether there is a need to extend the mask requirement beyond December 10th or to rescind or amend the order.

Festival goers coming to Halloween Spooktacular, Cathedral City Hot Air Balloon Festival, and the Mayor’s Tree Lighting Ceremony will need to wear a facial covering as social distancing in most cases will not be possible.
