“City Hall at Your Corner” Returns In-Person with New Fire Chief on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, at 2 P.M.

Meet and chat with Cathedral City’s new fire chief at this month’s “City Hall at Your Corner” on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, from 2-3 p.m.

The in-person event is free and will be located at the Fire Station EOC Room inside the Fire Administration Offices, 32100 Desert Vista Cathedral City, CA 92234. Councilmembers Nancy Ross and Raymond Gregory will host the event for an informal discussion of issues in Cathedral City.

With more than 30 years of firefighting experience, Michael A. Contreras was selected as Cathedral City’s newest fire chief. Contreras, a 32-year veteran of the Orange County Fire Authority, was one of a six finalists selected to interview for the position through a national search conducted by Bob Murray and Associates.

Before joining Cathedral City on Nov. 7, 2022, Contreras was a member of the executive leadership team at the Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA), which serves 23 cities and the unincorporated areas of Orange County, California. OCFA is a full-service fire and EMS agency that serves 1.9 million residents over a 587-square mile area. In 2021, the agency responded to more than 161,000 incidents.

“City Hall at Your Corner” is scheduled once a month and at different times of the day to make it accessible to a variety of schedules. It is your opportunity to share your ideas, let the council know your concerns, and hear the latest news. Best of all, the discussion is free!
