The City of Cathedral City is inviting residents to get involved in local government by applying for open seats on several City Boards and Commissions. The annual recruitment period runs April 1 through May 6, 2026, with appointments expected to be announced in June 2026.
This is a meaningful opportunity for community members to contribute their expertise, represent their districts, and play a direct role in shaping the policies and projects that affect everyday life in the City of Cathedral City.
What Boards and Commissions Have Openings?
Seven bodies are currently recruiting for upcoming terms beginning July 1, 2026:
- Architectural Review Committee Three seats are open, representing Districts Three, Four, and Five. This committee reviews development proposals to ensure they meet the city’s design standards and contribute positively to the City of Cathedral City’s visual character.
- Cannabis Task Force Two seats are available — one for an Industry Representative and one for a Resident Representative. This task force advises the city on cannabis-related policy, regulation, and community impact.
- Finance Advisory Committee Two at-large committee member seats are open. This body provides independent analysis and recommendations on the city’s financial planning, budget, and fiscal policies.
- Historic Preservation Committee Openings exist for representatives from Districts One and Two. The committee works to identify, protect, and promote the City of Cathedral City’s historic and cultural resources.
- Parks and Community Events Commission Seats are available for Districts Three and Four. This commission advises on parks programming, recreational facilities, and community events that bring residents together.
- Planning Commission Two seats are open for Districts Two and Three. The Planning Commission plays a key role in land use decisions, zoning, and long-range development planning for the city.
- Public Arts Commission Districts Four and Five have openings on this commission, which oversees the city’s public art program and helps integrate art and culture into the City of Cathedral City’s public spaces.
