2023 Halloween Spooktacular Brings Families, Creative Costumes to Downtown Cathedral City

With a near perfect weather day, thousands of residents and visitors attended the 7th annual Halloween Spooktacular this past Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023, in Downtown Cathedral City.

Thanks to our title sponsor, State Farm Agent Phil Goodge, the three-hour event offered trick-or-treating for kids, family games, public safety displays by our police and fire departments, wonderful food from Meester Zebra, performances by the Cathedral City High School Ballet Folklorico group, recyclable Halloween shopping bags, and a blood drive by LifeStream Blood Bank.

Due to increased attendance from 2022, the City went through 50,000 pieces of candy in about two hours. Plans are already in the works to increase the amount of candy available trick-or-treating in 2024.

During the Costume Contest for Kids, six lucky winners went home with brand new bikes, as the costumes this year were outstanding. Special Events thanks our costume contest judges who had a difficult time selecting the top two each hour.  They included Mayor Rita Lamb, Mayor Pro Tem Mark Carnevale, Councilmember Nancy Ross, Councilmember Ernesto Gutierrez, City Manager Charlie McClendon, Fire Chief Michael Contreras, Police Chief George Crum, former Communications & Events Manager Chris Parman, and Miss Patsi from Dinner with Patsi.

Halloween Spooktacular would not be possible without the support our business partners and non-profit groups.  Please thank these entities for making this Cathedral City event possible:
