Three Cathedral City Firefighters Head to the Massive “Detwiler Fire” Near Yosemite National Park

Last night, Fire Chief Paul Wilson deployed the Office of Emergency Services’ Engine 351 along with three Cathedral City Firefighters to assist in the rapidly spreading 45,000 acres “Detwiler Fire” located in Mariposa County near Yosemite National Park. The Detwiler Fire is currently only 7% contained and is threatening 1,500 structures with 8 structures already destroyed. The communities of Hunters Valley, Bear Valley, Catheys Valley, Mormon Bar, the Town of Mariposa, Mount Bullion, Yaqui Gulch/Aqua Fria areas and Hornitos continue to be threatened.

They will join more than 2,200 fire personnel, 217 engines, 9 airtankers, 11 helicopters, and 35 bulldozers already on the scene attempting to contain and extinguish this massive wildfire.

Let’s keep these firefighters in our thoughts and hope for their save return to Cathedral City.
