Turn Around, Don’t Drown – Cathedral City Fire Department Swift Water Rescue Early This Morning

Cathedral City Public Works closed Cathedral Canyon Drive at the Whitewater River Wash due to excessive rainfall. One driver ignored the street closure signs and attempted to cross the wash at 2:45 a.m. The water was too deep and the car began floating away.

Cathedral City Fire Department was called out to conduct a Swift Water Rescue.

This is a reminder to all motorists to please obey street closure signs and if you see water crossing a roadway, “turn around, don’t drown.” Besides putting your own life at risk, you put those who dare to rescue you at risk as well.
