Cathedral City Mayor Raymond Gregory & Mayor Pro Tem Ernesto Gutierrez Sworn Into Office

At the special City Council meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2025, Raymond Gregory, with his husband Eric Ornelas by his side, took the oath of office to become Cathedral City’s mayor. Councilmember Ernesto Gutierrez also took the oath of office and will serve as Mayor Pro Tem.

Mayor Gregory and the entire City Council thanked outgoing Mayor Nancy Ross for her leadership and service throughout the year. Cathedral City’s mayor position rotates every year starting at the first regular council meeting in December.

Mayor Raymond Gregory was reelected in 2022 to represent Cathedral City’s District 5. Prior to his election, he served more than 27 years with the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, rising to the rank of Assistant Sheriff before retiring in 2017. As Mayor, he looks forward to continuing to serve the residents of Cathedral City and advancing the city’s goals for the community.
