Who Can Apply?

The Community Arts Grant Program welcomes proposals from a wide range of creatives and organizations — artists, performers, dancers, authors, poets, musicians, designers, artist collectives, non-profit organizations, governmental and tribal entities, schools, and any other creative types passionate about using the arts as a means of community beautification, social transformation, cultural appreciation, and civic dialogue.

Residency in Cathedral City is not required. What matters is that the proposed project takes place within the City’s geographical boundaries and is reasonably available to members of the general public.

What Counts as “Art”?

“Art” is defined broadly. Eligible projects may include virtually any creative expression: painting, sculpture, photography, and other visual arts; music, singing, and spoken word; plays, films, and dance; literature, poetry, and art history; clothing, fashion, and cultural expression; and art education delivered through classes, lectures, tours, events, festivals, exhibits, performances, and more.

Note: The grant is not intended to fund permanent art pieces or installations.
