The City of Cathedral City’s Public Works Department wants residents and business owners to know that pavement slurry seal work begins next week on several streets across the city.
Starting Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2026, and running through about Friday, Nov. 6, 2026, Petrochem Materials Innovation, LLC (PMI) will apply a surface treatment as part of the FY 2026-2027 Fall Rubberized Emulsion Aggregate Slurry (REAS) Projects. The slurry seal restores the street surface, extends the life of the pavement and helps prevent further deterioration.
Affected Streets
- Dream Homes Neighborhood
- Verano Road
- Perlita Road
- Modalo Road
- Cove Lane
- Grove Street
Work hours are 7 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, excluding holidays.
What to Expect
Street signage and door hangers will go out 72 hours before work begins on each street. They’ll give advance notice of parking restrictions and street access limits. On the day a street is treated:
- No driving or parking will be allowed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Vehicles left in posted “No Parking” areas will be towed at the owner’s expense.
- Residents should postpone deliveries, let guests know, and turn off sprinklers.
- Wet slurry sticks to and stains vehicles, bicycles, clothing and shoes, so avoid contact until the street reopens.
During construction, residents may run into dirt roadways, noise, vibration, odors and crews working within the street right-of-way. Street parking will be limited, and access to streets and driveways may be temporarily blocked. Emergency vehicles and all other essential services will have access for the full length of the project.
Please reduce speed in the Cone Zone, watch for workers and equipment, and use alternate routes when possible. The City appreciates your patience and cooperation as this work moves forward.
