Check out the latest episode of CCTV’s “The Art of Cathedral City” highlighting professional theater in downtown Cathedral City!
Host Conrad Angel Corral returns to Coachella Valley Repertory (CVRep), located at 68510 East Palm Canyon Drive in the heart of Cathedral City’s downtown arts district. He sits down again with Executive Artistic Director Adam Karsten for an inside look at CVRep’s 2026-2027 season. The season brings four productions to the stage, from sharp political satire to a rock ’n’ roll jam session to one of the most beloved musicals of all time.
The season opens tonight with The Minutes (Oct. 28-Nov. 15, 2026), Tracy Letts’ razor-sharp satire set in a small Midwestern town. A newer City Council member starts asking questions about last month’s meeting minutes, and the answers uncover secrets, power plays and a chilling truth.
The holidays bring Around the World in 80 Days (Dec. 2-20, 2026), Mark Brown’s adaptation of the Jules Verne novel. In the style of The 39 Steps, this fast-paced comedy has five actors playing 40 roles.
The new year rocks on with Million Dollar Quartet (Jan. 13-31, 2027). The musical recreates the legendary night when Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins came together for a once-in-a-lifetime jam session, with the hits, the rivalries and the raw energy that made rock ’n’ roll history.
The season closes with the Coachella Valley regional premiere of a restaging of Les Misérables (Feb. 24-March 21, 2027). This epic tale of love, sacrifice and redemption follows Jean Valjean as he seeks a second chance while being pursued by Javert against the backdrop of revolution.
CVRep’s intimate 200-seat theater remains the only theater in the Coachella Valley with Small Professional Theatre status with Actors’ Equity, ensuring professional-caliber productions right here in Cathedral City.
