“An Evening with Dan Guerrero” – Taste of Jalisco’s 1st Event – November 13 – Tickets on Sale Now

As the first event for “Taste of Jalisco”, the eldest son of Lalo Guerrero and the Father of Chicano Music, Dan Guerrero will entertain you with his awarding documentary about his father’s musical career. Entitled, “Lalo Guerrero: The Original Chicano” will guide you through seven decades of Mexican-American/Chicano history from Repatriation, the Zoot Suit riots and the UFW to the minifalda/mini-skirt and Chicano pride and prejudice. Guerrero captured it all in a dazzling array of musical genres including rancheras, boogie, tropical, norteño, cha-chas, mambos and beautiful boleros. Rare photographs, historic footage and music performances bring this eclectic tapestry to life.

Lalo Guerrero tells his own story on camera as no one else could, with warmth and humor. Artists and activists influenced by the late Chicano icon share personal stories. Ry Cooder, Culture Clash (Richard Montoya, Ric Salinas, Herbert Siguenza) UFW co-founder Dolores Huerta, Los Lobos’ Louie Perez and David Hidalgo, Cheech Marin, Edward James Olmos, Paul Rodriguez, Linda Ronstadt and Luis Valdez provide unique insight about the music pioneer. Lalo Guerrero lived in Cathedral City until his death in 2005 and the street in front of City Hall was named after him to honor his life and career.

Following the documentary co-produced and co-written by Dan, he will conduct a Question and Answer session about his father’s career and the making of the documentary. A reception will follow on the mezzanine where you will have an opportunity to purchase a collector’s DVD/CD set and have Dan Guerrero autograph it.
